The Suva Magistrates court will give its ruling on Fiji Times’ Publisher Hank Arts bail variation application this Friday.
Hank Arts who is charged with one count of sedition appeared in the Suva Magistrates court this afternoon.
Arts is intending to travel to Honolulu from the 6th to the 17th of this month to celebrate his 28th wedding anniversary.
In a lengthy submission, his lawyer informed the court that his client has adhered to all his bail conditions.
He also said that Arts will not escape as he is 70-years-old and will not live his life as a fugitive.
Meanwhile, State lawyer objected to the bail variation.
The state lawyer said that the grounds for the bail variation are not necessary and that the trial may start in almost five months.
He also said that Arts is at flight risk.
He further said that Arts still has the liberty for a vacation anywhere in Fiji.
The Magistrate will rule on the application this Friday.
