The Government will continue to invest in movie productions and initiatives whereby Fijians can get trained and understand the industry better.
Economy and Communications Minister Aiyaz Sayed- Khaiyum reiterated this during the Kula Film Awards at Damodar Cinema’s in Suva yesterday.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the Government started the Kula Film initiative a few years back, giving chance to the younger generation to showcase their tradition and culture by using theatre.
“We are very blessed a s a country where we have really a whole plethora of different experiences, different cultures, different religions, different ethnicities and all sorts of mix which makes us all uniquely Fijian.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says creativity has a special place in our society and we as Fijians need to appreciate it.
He also urged young Fijians to make the most of the opportunities available and further their skills if they are interested in the film industry.
Meanwhile, Swami Vivekananda College from Nadi has been awarded the title of Fijian Made Best Film Award for their short movie ‘The Dream Catcher’.
