Government negotiates with banks on home loan

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is working with banks in Fiji in financing home loans for those with low income.

According to the Housing Minister Samuela Saumatua, there are plans to regulate interest on home loans.

Saumatua says Government is not targeting just those in urban areas, but also those in rural communities.

_"We have been working closely with the banks in our efforts to try and lower the interest rate for loans and packages."

An expo is currently being held at Albert Park, telling people how they can get their own homes without spending their entire life paying debts.
