Government gets assistance for changes

The Government will be working closely with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank in terms of assistance to changes in the laws of Fiji.

This was confirmed by the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Sayed-Khaiyum says both institutions are well versed in a number of areas as they work with a lot of countries around the world.

ADB is also helping us with some of the state owned enterprise related legislative changes that we would like to bring about. Also in respect to technical assistance with the divestment of shares that we have as our policy agenda. The World Bank also we for example had liaised with them in changing the financial year – their office here in Suva helped us with that.”

The ADB is dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth and regional integration.
