Government collects $250M from STT and ECAL

The government has so far collected a total of $250 million from the Service Turnover Tax and Environment & Climate Adaptation Levy.

Revealing this in parliament, Tourism Minister Premila Kumar says this particular fund is directed towards climate adaptation programs, so that our tourism sector is sustainable.

Kumar says she has a lot of work ahead of her especially in the tourism sector.

She says she plans to continue building on what her predecessors have done.

“I intend to continue building impressive and considerable achievements of my predecessors, in order to increase investments, growth of the Fijians economy and create jobs that we all know are needed especially for our young people.”

Kumar adds she is determined to make sure that more Fijians are included in and benefit from the growth of the country’s economy.
