Funding for Koroipita Housing Project

Around one thousand two hundred people are expected to benefit from the completion of stage 3 of the Koroipita Housing Project in Lautoka as the New Zealand government will provide a further grant of $4.62 million.

At the completion of stage 3, there will a total of 256 homes at Koroipita.

New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji, Mark Ramsden says Stage 3 will see the construction of an additional 25 cyclone safe homes.

It will also see a light industrial park for small business operations , a plant nursery and gardens plots , a multi-purpose sports court and rugby / soccer field.

The Koroipita Model Community offers more than safe housing and high quality services in a fully developed 50 acre subdivision.

A total of 1910 volunteers mostly from overseas Rotary clubs and Habitat for Humanity and locals from the tourism sector have served one to two weeks building houses at Koroipita, in two hundred thirty one teams.
