January 13, 2018 6:30 pm

Fiji Trades Union Congress general secretary, Felix Anthony, says they have applied for a permit to hold another march in Suva in support of ATS workers who had illegally walked off their jobs five weeks ago.

Around 2,500 people including politicians and various political party supporters together with striking ATS workers march through Nadi yesterday.

The FTUC says it hoped the government will step in to sort out the situation at ATS.

“Well we have applied for another permit to march in Suva for February and that’s in the process and we are awaiting the permit. We are going to make sure that we petition the government to do something about this and also on the cards is a national strike we are contemplating should this dispute prolong.”

Meanwhile close to 200 police officers were deployed around Nadi town to monitor the situation.
