FSC to be strict on burnt cane delivery

The Fiji Sugar Corporation will be strict on indiscriminate cane burning once the 2014 crushing season begins from the 16th of this month.

FSC Executive Chair-ABDUL KHAN says cane farmers normally burn stand over crop left from the previous season.

KHAN says fresh green cane cut and delivered for crushing will always produce high quality sugar which will be beneficial to both the millers and the growers.

The Penang Sugar Mill in Rakiraki will start crushing from the 16th of this month with the Labasa Mill to start the next day.

The Rarawai Sugar Mill will in Ba will commence crushing from the 19th while the Lautoka Mill is expected to begin crushing from the 1st of July.
