The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation is closely monitoring the use of the new Free Bus Fare Scheme for pensioners and people living with disabilities.

Permanent Secretary for Poverty Alleviation Dr Joe Koroivueta says the ministry together with the Land Transport Authority is working to ensure that the $40 bus fare top up is not abused.

“The Land Transport Authority also have a prominent role to ensure that this initiative is not abused, only the card holders will be able to use their E-Transport cards.”
