The Fiji Roads Authority has reopened the Tamavua-I-Wai Bridge to legal load limits from today.
This however is subject to a restriction on the maximum weight of any group of axles of 16,000kg.
FRA chief executive John Hutchinson says heavy vehicle operators must still should understand the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and keep within the legal load limits.
He says LTA will continue to monitor vehicle weights crossing the Bridge.
Hutchinson says FRA is also taking into consideration the needs of the industry and the special conditions for approval of vehicles exceeding the allowable weight.
He says for these heavy vehicles, companies can apply to the Fiji Roads Authority for necessary approval.
Work continues under the bridge and motorists have been urged to observe the speed limit of 30km.
