Fiji Ports Corporation Limited has refuted allegations made by Goundar Shipping Limited against the organisation.

Last week FPCL suspended George Goundar’s port user identification card for verbally abusing the Suva Harbour Master and Acting Chief Operating Officer after he was issued with instructions regarding the vessel berthing arrangements and operations at Port Mua-i-Walu 2.

The act and his continuous breach of the Seaport Management Regulation Act given that he had already issued with a final warning in February had led FPCL to take action in suspending his port user ID card.

In an interview with FBC News, Goundar alleged that he committed the offence after FPCL towed away one of his vessels, sustaining damages in the process.

However, FPCL wish to clarify that it did not tow any of his vessels as claimed.

FPCL confirmed Goundar was advised on several occasions to shift one of its vessels that were not operational to anchorage to allow other stakeholders to use the berthing facility given there was a demand for berthing at that time.
