The Fiji Ports Corporation will be enforcing strict regulations at the Narain Jetty in Walu Bay, Suva.
The Corporation staff will be working with the Ministry of Transport, Police and the Land Transport Authority to ensure congestion and overcrowding is alleviated at the port so that there’s crowd control during this peak season.
Public Relations Officer, Losalini Bolatagici says safety of the public is paramount.
Any person entering the wharf they are to produce their Port User ID or boarding ticket at the entry gate, especially for those that are leaving or travelling. All outbound passengers will not be allowed to enter in vehicles and they are to walk with exemption of persons with disabilities or an elderly. Farewell party or visitors will no longer be allowed onto the vessel area as they’re restricted to the waiting areas only.
Bolatagici adds vessel owners are to depart as per schedule and must arrive as per berthing application.
She stressed the Corporation will not allow any makeshift office on the wharf.
