Four military officers charged for rape and sexual assault

Four military officers have been charged with a count each of sexual assault and rape following an alleged rape case of a female officer in March this year.

RFMF Chief of Staff Brigadier General Jone Kalouniwai has confirmed the Military Police has finalized its investigation and is awaiting the availability of the Judge to begin the court martial.

Brigadier General Kalouniwai says all the accused are still members of the RFMF.

“They are currently under an open arrest .They come into camp certain times to report then we allowed them to go back out .When we conduct the investigation we had them under close arrest .We following normal military procedure in terms of investigation discipline of these cases”

It’s alleged the female officer was intoxicated at the time of the incident when she was allegedly sexually assaulted by the four men who were on duty at that time.

Brigadier General Kalouniwai has reiterated violence against women and children will not be tolerated by the RFMF and those involved will be dealt with severely.
