Food and Music Festival attracts huge crowd

The overcast weather did not deter people who continue to gather at the Thurston Food and Music Festival in Suva.

The event which is organised by Knox Entertainment in partnership with FBC’s GoldFM is only in its third year and continues to get bigger.

Children from Dave Steven’s School of music who are first timers to the event were overwhelmed to be on stage performing for their families and the public.

“A lot of them, they were in awe, their parents come and cry to see them up there making a difference. It’s all worth it.”

Event Organiser Inoke Kalounisiga better known as Knox says more similar events are needed to expose local talents.

“One for the musicians and two for the people, you know a nation needs to be able to entertain its own people. We are providing that and of course there are other events around the country but this is our part in it. It’s also important for the musicians because it’s another revenue platform and for some of them they are making new fans today.”

The family event currently underway at Thurston Garden will continue until 10 tonight.
