The Public Service Commission has appointed five new Permanent Secretaries

The Public Service Commission has appointed five new Permanent Secretaries.

With the agreement of the Prime Minister, Manasa Lesuma takes on the Ministry of Defence and National Security portfolio.

Lesuma is currently the CEO of the National Fire Authority.

The position of PS for Infrastructure, Transport, Disaster Management and Meteorological Services will now be held by Taitusi Vakadravuyaca – a civil engineer who returns to government service.

The new PS for the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources is Josefa Caniogo – who served on the Native Land Trust Board and for the past 3 years has been UNDP’s country coordinator for the Development of Minerals Program.

For Local government, Jovilisi Suveinakama takes up the PS role.

The solicitor has returned to Fiji after serving 15 years on Tokelau’s judicial services.

Jennifer Poole is the new PS for the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.

Poole currently leads Medical Services Pacific, an organisation she founded in Fiji as a national and regional NGO.

The selection and appointment of these new Permanent Secretaries followed an extensive open merit recruitment and selection process conducted by the Commission.
