Final day for campaign materials

Today is the last full day for political parties and its supporters to display campaign materials of their parties.

Under the Electoral Decree all campaign materials need to be removed by 7.30am tomorrow.

Elections Supervisor Mohammed Saneem is urging every Fijian to abide by the law.

“Every person who owns property of chattels that have campaign materials on it please not that as we approach 7.30am on 15th of September under the Electoral Decree you have to remove all campaign materials, displays., logos etc etc from your properties.””

Saneem says for political parties all campaign materials must be authorized and parties should be able to inform person whom they have authorized to place up their campaign materials.

“Political parties must take heed of this and they need to apply to abide by the Electoral Decree and as such they must take positive steps in ensuring that camping materials are removed within compliance of the law.”

Saneem says every Fijian is a participant in the 2014 elections and every Fijian play a role of a monitor, there they can raise complaints if they see any breach of the Electoral Decree.
