Final day for amnesty to pay LTA fines

January 15, 2018 12:43 am

Today is the last day for amnesty and those that have to pay Traffic Infringement fines can do so without having to pay the late penalty fees.

The Land Transport Authority says from tomorrow a fifty percent penalty will be imposed for every fine paid late.

In a statement the LTA says the Traffic Infringement Notice Regulations 2017, which came into effect in April, “provided companies or persons, ninety days to pay their fines without the late penalty fee”.

The LTA says however, due to the failure of the companies and persons not paying their fines within the given period, an amendment to Regulations was made to allow another amnesty period from September 26th to November 30th.

Consequently, another amnesty period was granted to allow the companies and persons to pay their fines without fifty percent additional late penalty fees, which comes to an end today.
