The Fiji Sugar Corporation is doing its best to make the fifth and final cane payment for the last season to cane farmers by today.

Speaking to FBC News last night, FSC Executive Chair Abdul Khan says the payment is 71 cents per tonne of cane.

According to Sugar Industry Master Award, the final payment must be made on or before 31st of October each year.

Khan says the corporation is confident the payment will be made in accordance with the Master Award.

A joint submission was made by the FSC and the Sugar Cane Growers Council to the Sugar Industry Tribunal for final approval of this payment.
