The public is being urged to file their submissions for the review of bus fares to the steering committee.
The committee setup to review the bus industry will commence consultations next Wednesday through to mid-December.
Committee Chair, Joel Abraham says the review of bus fares will have a direct impact on every Fijian, hence encouraging the public to give their submissions on time.
_“We will call for written and oral submissions and we will open other platforms as well through social media, emails and calls.
We are also looking at obtaining and advertising numbers on which people can text in their submissions. We will accept that as well.”_
The last bus fare review was held in 2011, leading to an increase in rates due to world fuel prices.
The independent committee consist of representatives from the RBF, Solicitor General, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Land Transport Authority, Consumer Council of Fiji, Fiji Bus Operators Association and the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
