October 14, 2019 6:35 am

The Fiji Police Force is pleading with the public to continuously monitor their children’s whereabouts.

This follows recurring incidents where children are becoming fallen victims.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says as we go into the festive season, they will be out in numbers in towns and cities carrying out operations.

“We would definitely ask members of the public just to exercise caution. If the weather is not favorable please don’t try and attempt to be swimming out especially in flooded rivers, it might seem different on top but you never should test mother nature that’s just our advice. But at the end of the day the onus is on members of the public to just be safe at all times.”

Meanwhile, few incidents happened over the weekend involving children.

A seven year old student drowned in the Nasese waters in Suva on Friday afternoon while swimming with some of his friends.

In another case, a 9-year-old boy is admitted in stable condition at the Sigatoka Hospital after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man.

Naisoro also highlighted an incident involving a 15-year-old student of Naikabula in Lautoka who was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old man from Lovu in Lautoka.

Investigations in these cases continue.
