Fijian Government to receive a funding of $5.5M

The Government of Japan will provide a funding of $5.5 million to the Fijian Government.

This is aimed at supporting the procurement of the Maritime Safety and Security Equipment for the Police Force.

This comes under its Grant Aid “Economic Social Development Programme” (ESDP).

Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, Yogesh Karan and Japanese Ambassador Masahiro Omura will formalize this assistance in Suva today.

To enhance Fiji Police Force’s capacity in search and rescue operations, this grant aid will support the procurement of maritime safety and security equipment such as life boats, lifesaving launcher, equipment for scuba diving etc. and further enhance disaster prevention and reduction in Fiji.

Police operations covers the whole of Fiji which consists of 330 islands that are spread across its maritime zone.
