Fiji wants to reduce trade imbalance

Fiji wants to reduce the trade imbalance with Australia – one of our largest commercial markets.

A seminar is underway in Suva for a group of Australian investors and potential business people interested in Fiji.

Assistant Minister for Trade, Lorna Eden told the participants that the playing field isn’t level between the two countries.

“There is a huge untapped potential for Fijian businesses in the Australian market which we have not taken advantage of yet. It’s very important that business communities in both countries take steps in identifying the barriers and identify solutions.”

For every dollar Fiji earns in merchandise exports, we spend $2.90 on imports from Australia.
