November 10, 2012 7:41 pm

‘We shall always remember them’….that’s the theme for today as the country gathers to celebrate Remembrance Day.

Commemorations began with a traditional dawn service at the Military Cemetery at Lovonilase with a memorial service to follow later this morning at the National War Memorial Complex at Battery Hill in Veituo.

A statement posted on the RFMF website says this years theme was chosen to serve as a reminder of the price that was paid to secure the freedom we enjoy today.

The memorial services will pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the 1st and 2nd World Wars, those involved in the many conflicts worldwide since 1945 and those fighting for our peace and freedom today.

The chief guest for the memorial service will be His Excellency, the President of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, who has been actively involved in the planning process of this year’s Remembrance Day.

The memorial service will commence at 10.30 at the National War Memorial Complex at Battery Hill in Veiuto.
