Fiji Hydrographic Unit plays a vital role in the economy

Fiji Hydrographic Unit plays a vital role in collection of hydrographic data, publication and dissemination of all nautical information necessary for safe navigation.

This was highlighted in Parliament by Minister for Defence and National Security Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

Kubuabola says the work is critical for the development of Fiji’s Economy most notably in the maritime trade sector and the cruise tourism sector.

“The unit supports the work of The United Kingdom Hydrographic office with its responsibility for charting Fiji Waters.”

Kubuabola adds the new hydrographic vessel is currently being constructed in China and will be in Fiji by next year.
