However, Bainimarama says it was not the first time for Prime Minister Morrison to visit Fiji as his wife and daughter had a number of vacations in the country before.

He says that Morrison and his family knew the Fijian people and also the measure of their friendship and hospitality.

“And I know for a fact that – for Prime Minister Morrison personally – his past experiences with Fiji, with his family, were a major reason why he was so passionate about working with me to reimagine our relationship and deepen our bilateral ties. Now, we’re officially family, through the new, aptly named, Vuvale Partnership between Fiji and Australia. A partnership rooted in our shared values of family and friendship.”

Bainimarama says that the Vuvale Partnership is a wonderful story which began right here in Fiji.

He adds Prime Minister Morrison had the opportunity to know who we are, as a nation.
