Fiji attends 20th Agritech exhibition in Israel

Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu led a Government delegation to the 20th Agricultural Technology (Agritech) Exhibition and Conference in Israel last week.

Seruiratu had bilateral meetings with Israel’s Minister for Agriculture Uri Ariel HaCohen, Israel’s Ambassador to Australia Yeron, and the Head of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Agency for International Development Co-operation (MASHAV), Gil Haskel.

Uri HaCohen acknowledged Fiji’s contribution under the peace keeping missions especially in the Golan Heights, Sinai, Lebanon, Syria and in other Middle-Eastern countries.

Haskel stated that MASHAV was prepared to expand its activities in Fiji and looks to further assist Fiji in the areas of agriculture training, irrigation, research and livestock, especially in the dairy industry together with horticulture and tropical fruits.

Seruiratu was also informed on MASHAV’s offering of fifteen places for agricultural students in Fiji to be trained in Israel.

The minister was accompanied by Fiji’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Mosese Tikoitoga, and Permanent Secretary for Agriculture David Kolitagane, Director Research Apaitia Macanawai and Senior Economist for the agriculture ministry Osea Ratuyawa.
