The Fijian Holdings Group is keen on investing in the renewable energy sector.
FHL Group chief executive Nouzab Fareed says they are planning to open a solar farm.
Fareed says this farm will be located outside Suva but the exact location has not been chosen.
“So the wind has not worked properly, our hydro is working, diesel is good but it is not environmentally friendly. So solar is the only way. So we are looking at two solar energy companies to make an investment during this financial year.”
Fareed says given Fiji’s landscape, there are many flat lands that can be transformed into solar farms.
He says the land for the farms can be easily identified and a clean source of energy can be used.
