FDB committed to assisting farmers

The Fiji Development Bank is committed to providing the best plans, loans, and assistance to farmers in other sectors.

FDB chief executive Mark Clough says farmers are now taking loans for mechanical cane harvesters under the banks Agricultural Service Loan facilities.

Clough says till May 2017, the bank provided financing to the value of $10.78 million to farmers from the cane belt areas.

“We are entering into various MOU’s, and one is with the Ministry of Agriculture for a joint venture to promote value chain financing, in particular, the financing of small and medium enterprise so that they can bring products from farms to markets.”

Clough says they will continue to support the government’s strategic focus on agriculture.
