The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation has become the first media company in the country to have its own staff gym.
FBC Chief Executive Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the company has grown from strength to strength and this is a reward for staff – a place to release their stress.
“We have children’s corner as well. Sometimes children come and wait for their parents to finish off work, they now have a space to play, watch TV, read book, we also have a babies changing room.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says another reason for the gym is to promote healthy living within the office.
While launching the gym today Health Minister – Dr Neil Sharma reiterated the need to exercise.
“It’s important that we watch our lifestyles and I am confident that with FBC now looking after its employees so well and demonstrating corporate social responsibility to its workers is a very good move and I am confident other organizations will also follow this.”
FBC Staff members will go through fitness programs with professional trainer – Henry Elder from Monday.
The gym will be open from 5am to 9pm on weekdays and is only for staff.
