Families return home after flash flooding

Families at Waidamudamu settlement in Koronivia, Nausori are cleaning up their homes after they were forced to move to safety in the early hours of today.

Inspector Mariana Bolatolu of Nakasi Police Post says they received a report that about 100 homes were hit by flash floods.

Actually we just received this report lately this morning, we received the report that Waidamudamu settlement is underwater so that was the main reason that we the Nakasi police have to come and attend to this report. Actually we are just here to advise and make sure that all the people here in the settlement are safe so we have evacuated a house that is underwater and we are going around advising houses that they have to take precaution during this weather.

Heavy rain overnight also caused some flooding in Rakiraki, Sigatoka, Lautoka and parts of the Central and Eastern Division.
