A lot of people hiding behind fake accounts on social media are bullying other says the Director of Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, Ashwin Raj.
He says the complaints coming from the public to the Commission has increased.
“Any kind of cyber bullying I think – we need to put a stop to it. People have been talking a lot about exercising their rights to freedom of expression and they take to social media because they claim the laws are draconian. But look at what people are doing on social media.”
He says this will continue to be a major concern if nothing is done.
“We need to launch a very strong campaign to stop cyber bullying because of the enormous amount of sexual violence and hate speech.”
Raj says a collective effort from relevant authorities is needed to address this issue.
