Exchange programs teaches importance of culture & heritage

Fijians traveling on cultural exchange programs have been urged to bring back what they learn from the various countries they travel to.

Speaking at the annual summary meeting for a 2018 Cultural Exchange Programs for Fiji and China in Suva, Akbar says such programs not only builds relationships with the host countries, it also teaches those traveling for the program the importance of culture and heritage.

Akbar says those chosen for such programs should ensure that they appreciate what they learn and to return with vast knowledge which they can share with their societies.

So this cultural exchange programs that our officials go to – I hope we will be able to see the impact it’s going to have on how we can build our capacities, how we can appreciate the work of art we have. Whether it comes in the form of poetry, whether it comes in the form of dancing or in the form of artwork.”

The Fiji-China cultural exchange program is held every year and began in 2016 which saw 34 Fijian delegates participating in 2016, 26 Fijians in 2017 and six delegates last year.
