The electronic voter registration process which starts this morning in major centres around the country should not be seen as a political process.

Elections Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the comments, saying the EVR is in the interest of all Fijians.

“This is a very apolitical issue and it’s in everybody’s interest including those politicians and political parties, that we have a system where all Fijians are easily identifiable, there is no fraud in their identity, and that this important component of the electoral process is done very efficiently and of course is done in a very transparent manner.”

Sayed-Khaiyum is encouraging everyone to come forward and register as this will ensure your say in the next elections.
