Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Peter Loy Chong after meeting with the Education Minister

The Education Ministry and the Catholic Church have come to some agreement on the issue concerning the appointment of Head Teachers and Principals to faith based schools.

The confirmation was made by Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Peter Loy Chong after meeting with Education Minister Rosy Akbar in Suva today.

The Archbishop says negotiations between the Education Ministry, the Catholic Church and other faith based organizations will continue.

“We are generally happy because there is a common ground.”

The Archbishop says they cannot reveal much on the outcome of the meeting as the official statement will be released by the Education Ministry.

“Eight O’Clock today sometimes tomorrow the Ministry of Education will release some statements on this, some common grounds that we agreed on and the future, at the moment that’s where we are”

Education Minister Rosy Akbar did not wish to make a comment, however, says a statement will be released soon.
