With the lack of rainfall causing concern for Water Authority of Fiji, the Fiji Meteorology Office has forecast a below-average rainfall this month.

Fiji Meteorological Service Acting Director Teri Atalifo says November is usually the beginning of the Wet season but there has been a suppression of rainfall in the past month.

Atalifo adds that for the coming month their outlook is for average to below average rainfall across the whole Fiji group.

“So therefore the situation doesn’t look too good at this stage. But having said that our wet season normally peaks around Jan to March so therefore we will expect rainfall to increase in the coming months.”

Meanwhile Water Authority of Fiji continues to monitor water sources at critical levels and the public is being urged to use water sparingly.
