Developing policies for non-formal education

A non formal education interim council will be announced next week which will help formulate a non formal education policy in the next three months.

Minister for Youth Laisenia Tuitabou says the policy will encourage secondary and tertiary education drop outs to develop their full potential through non formal education and enhance their skills through training.

”We will look at how to identify and support those who have dropped out of universities and schools, how to address the numerous issues confronting our country through non formal education training and how to promote non formal education so that it is not seen as a second class education”:

A consultative workshop was held last week between the Ministry of Youth, the Education Ministry and the non formal education providers to discuss the policy.
