Damage confined to houses: Tagicakibau

The damage brought about by cyclone Evan was mostly on houses with little effect on the public infrastructure says DISMAC director – Manasa Tagicakibau.

Tagicakibau says its early days yet as teams are still out in the field carrying out assessment surveys.

“From the northern division there has been structural damages in Bua, Udu and Cikobia – in the western division – Lautoka got hit the worst then Nadi and Yasawas. There has been an initial survey team assisting the Provincial office in assessing damages to Agriculture, Health and so forth.”

Electricity has been restored to some parts of the country as engineers work to restore power and water.
