The Rarawai Mill in Ba will end crushing at 7pm today in light of Tropical Cyclone Evan.

Fiji Sugar Corporation CEO Abdul Khan says, farmers need to make sure that their cane reaches Rarawai Mill no later than midday today.

With the cyclone expected to reach Fiji Waters this evening, the FSC needs to make preparations.

“For the safety of not only our own staff but also the farmers, lorry drivers and cutters we have little choice but to make this decision.With likely flooding, we need to ensure that our machines are safe and moved to higher ground”.

Khan says Rarawai is known to be a flood prone area, and continuing to operate during a cyclone would be irresponsible.
