Almost a week after the alleged murder of Australian Jennifer Downes, the key suspect remains in hospital.

Henry Lusaka John is alleged to have killed Downes in Suva’s Service Street last Tuesday.

John has since been admitted at the CWM Hospital.

Police are waiting for him to be discharged in order to interview him.

Downes was working for the UN World Food Program in the Pacific while John – an Australian citizen originally from Congo – also worked for an international organisation.

The couple’s three children are believed to be under the care of Downes family.
