December 28, 2018 10:50 am

In an effort to address the rising number of sexual abuse cases against children, Save the Children Fiji is working closely with the Social Welfare Ministry.

Save the Children Manager Shairana Ali says children deserve to be loved and protected by the people they trust, who sometimes turn to be the perpetrators.

Ali says they’re looking into this serious issue with the ministry’s child unit and providing support to the different stakeholders to make sure they’re ending violence or any form of abuse against Children.

“Please make sure your taking care of your children and providing appropriate supervision and for the children to enjoy yourselves responsibly and exercise your rights at all times.”

Meanwhile, during a recent Child Rights Situational Analysis forum conducted by the organisation, bullying and lack of support from parents were some of the major issues raised.
