The 37-year-old man alleged to have threatened a police officer on duty at the Cunningham post has been charged.

The accused has been charged with one count of Criminal Intimidation and one count of Serious Assault and will be appearing at Nasinu Magistrate Court this morning.

It’s alleged the suspect at 3am on Saturday entered the Cunningham Community Post and attacked the Police Constable on duty with an axe.

Quick response from the Valelevu Taskforce led to the arrest of the suspect.

The Police Constable was unharmed during the incident.

Meanwhile the special operations in Levuka continues and seventeen men are in custody for their involvement in the alleged incident which led up to three police officers sustaining injuries.

The investigation continues.
