Five men have been charged with one count each of serious assault and will appear in the Suva Magistrate Court tomorrow.

The suspects are alleged to have assaulted a police officer during a carnival in Navua last Saturday.

The officer sustained injuries to his head and mouth and is admitted at the CWM Hospital in stable condition.

The five suspects are aged between 18 and 25.
