Video interrogation a strong evidence in court: CJ Gates

Taking down statements and conducting video interrogation is the correct procedure to follow when handling suspects says the Chief Justice.

Justice Anthony Gates believes these are the two efficient and easiest methods to judge a suspect.

He adds many accused persons make different statements when same questions are asked in court following Police caution interviews.

The CJ says in incidents as such, video interrogation could be used to consider the facts.

“Generally speaking if that is the system we will eliminate great deal in violence and I think we need to do that to make a better world in Fiji.”

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Gates appreciates that many Fijians have now joined the Magistrate and High Court as staff in the country.
