Keperieli Ketewai and Luke Tavailai

The trial of two former police corporals charged with aggravated robbery will begin in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Keperieli Ketewai and Luke Tavailai along with a serving prisoner, Josaia Warodo are alleged to have robbed a 38-year-old businessman in Kadavu in April last year.

They allegedly stole assorted items valued at $1,580 including a mobile phone, a return boat ticket and two bags of money.

The third accused Warodo pleaded guilty to the charge while the two former police corporals pleaded not guilty.

Ketewai and Tavailai have been suspended from the force pending their criminal proceedings.
