A 28-year-old man alleged to have murdered a two-year-old girl has pleaded not guilty to charges.

Christopher Narayan appeared in Suva High Court today.

Earlier on, both Narayan and 20-year-old Luisa Maria Kumar were charged with murder, but today the prosecution filed a nolle prosequi application for Kumar, so now only Narayan faces a murder charge.

It is alleged that on March 4th this year, in Nakasi, Narayan and Kumar had a violent argument.

The child was later found lying unconscious in their Nakasi home by her mother and was pronounced dead at the Valelevu Health Center.

The matter has been adjourned to 31st May for a pre-trial conference.

Narayan is further remanded.
