A 27-year-old farmer from Kadavu charged with murder has been instructed to undergo a psychiatric evaluation by the Suva High Court.

Mosese Koroi Sigabalavu is charged with the murder of his pregnant partner.

The defense counsel today requested if the accused can be sent for a psychiatric evaluation.

The court also heard that the report from the evaluation will also outline the state of mind of the accused and if he can take plea.

It is alleged that he assaulted his 23-year-old de-facto partner in Nasese on June 7th which resulted in her death.

The case has been adjourned to October 23rd.
