Canadian national found with drugs remanded

A 24-year-old Canadian national allegedly found in possession of illicit drugs has been further remanded.

Joshua Aziz Rahman has been charged with one count of being in unlawful possession of 39.5kg of cocaine.

Rahman was arrested after a raid in Caubati, Suva last week where Police discovered the bars of white powder.

The cocaine bars are worth more than $31million.

He appeared at the Nasinu Magistrates Court this afternoon and was represented by a lawyer.

The court granted the prosecution’s application to transfer the matter to the Suva High Court as it’s an indictable offense.

The Court also considered the amount and value of illicit drugs.

The court also agreed that the High Court will deal with Rahman’s bail.

He will appear at the Suva High court on March 1st.
