60-year-old pastor appears in court for allege rape

Manasa Ulacake [Blue shirt] appeared in court today charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl.

A 60-year-old pastor of Labasa appeared in court today charged with the allege rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Manasa Ulacake is charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of abduction and two counts of rape.

He appeared before Magistrate Cama Tuberi at the Labasa Magistrate Court at mid-day.

Police prosecution informed the court that full disclosures have been served to the accused.

They also objected to bail as the accused and the victim live in the same settlement and there is a likelihood he will interfere with the victim as well as state witnesses.


Manasa Ulacake appeared in court today charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Police prosecutors also stated they have a really strong case as the accused had fully admitted to committing the offenses during the caution interview.

Ulacake requested for bail stating he has a family to look after.

Magistrate Tuberi told Ulacake he is charged with indictable offenses and counts three and four are serious in nature.

He has transferred the case to the Labasa High Court for mention on the 15th of February.

Ulacake has been refused bail and has been further remanded.
