The Catholic Church held a special Diwali Mass yesterday afternoon.
Archbishop – Father Peter Loy Chong had a special message for the congregation who turned up in their Diwali attire.
The Catholic Church has been holds special Diwali celebrations annually and this year was no different.
“So for us today as we celebrate – whether we are Hindu, Christian or Muslim we have the task to reinterpret our religious symbols, imagery and language so that it is relevant to the experience of our people today. That is the challenge of every religion – how do we bring the language of God so that it finds a place in our people today especially our children who live in a new age today.”
Father Loy Chong says that unity comes when people understand that despite our differences we are all one.
