China's support to Fiji's development acknowledged

September 26, 2018 4:33 am

China’s support to Fiji’s development is once again being acknowledged by Women’s Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa who says Fiji will never look back.

As the local Chinese community marks the Moon Festival, Vuniwaqa says such a celebration is an excellent opportunity for intercultural exchange and understanding.

“We are proud to say that Fiji has only grown upwards in terms of development since we took out national matters in our own hands and we have absolutely no desire to look back. We have been lucky to have our friends like the Government of People’s Republic of China that has supported us and helped us in many ways by lending us a hand whilst letting us determine our own destiny.”

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo hopes the relationship between the two countries will continue to prosper.

“China Fiji relations have developed steadily in recent years. I am confident that with the joint efforts of both sides cultural exchanges and cooperation between our two countries will bear more fruit in the years to come.”

Moon Festival is a time of family reunion and remains an important festival in the Chinese calendar.
